Our Busy Weekend!!!

We had our housewarming party over the weekend...
We were so glad that our family could come in from out of town to help us celebrate :)

I thought for sure Sis was going to try to sneak away with Scout in her purse!!!

Emma loves her Uncle Ken so much!!!

Our Silly Boys!!!

We didn't get any pictures of the party :(
We were so happy to have everyone here, that we completely forgot!

Sunday; however, we went to Bates Nut Farm for the day...
We all had a great time!  The weather was perfect and none of us had ever been!

 Nana and the Grand-kids!!

We were so glad that Brenda and Smitty were able to make it in from out of town!!!

Brandon and I trying to figure out the ticket information :)

 The straw maze!!!

Yeah... Danielle and I found our long lost sister at the nut farm...
Big Surprise :)

 Me and my hunny :)

 Sis and Brandon

Kierstyn and Emma finished the straw maze first!!!

 The girls taking a break!
It was actually pretty warm outside!!!

 Wow... now that's a face!!!

Weeeeee... Emma and Kierstyn sliding down the giant slide!

Next, we all went on the hay ride around the fields...

Then all the kids got to rock climb!!!

and Emma got to ride on the ponies!!!

We had such a great day!
Thanks to everyone who helped us celebrate our new home!!!

We have the most amazing family and friends in the entire world...

The Lighthouse...

Ken and I took a drive up to the lighthouse a few weekends ago...
It was absolutely beautiful...

Thanks for a great "date" my love :)

The Newest Member of our Family...

This is the newest member of our family... Scout!!!
He is a Chihuahua/Beagle mix and is as cute as can be!!!!
He is now 10 weeks old... the kids absolutely love him!

Tanker hated him at first, and us for bringing him into the house!
Now that he's been here a little over a week, I think the little guy is starting to grow on him a little :)

Having a puppy in the house is exhasting!!!  It's almost like having a newborn baby!
Ken and I haven't had a full night's sleep since we brought him home!

His favorite place to sleep is in someone's arms!!!

Our Home... Before/After

 We absolutely love our home!!!
We hadn't really fully grasped the amount of work we'd done on the house until we saw the side by sides photos of the before(s) and after(s)!!

We are so proud of all we've accomplished.  We found our "forever home" and made it our own.  Ken and I sit at night looking around wondering how the heck we managed it :)  I love you sweetheart and I love the house we made a home...

Sorry for the spacing... I had to scroll the photos down so that you could see them in their entirety!
Keep scrolling down :)

The front of the house was pink and completely ran down!  The yard was full of weeds and the house was obviously very pink!!!  We chose a neutral earthy color (with the help of Bobbi) and landscaped the entire front including giving the park benches and picket fence a face lift :)

The backyard was a wreck!  I didn't include the before photo of the patio, but the entire enclosure was built by Ken and Steve!  It turned out absolutely beautiful!  We love the extra living space we've
created in the back!  The front yard is completely different and the kids love playing out there now!!!

The photos don't do justice to the before condition of the girls room.  It was a nightmare.  There were holes in the wall from the chair-railing and the most awful pink and purple combo not to mention the fact that it was filthy!!  The girls picked a very fluorescent green and LOVE their new 'grownup' room!!!

Ty's room was white, but had little else going for it.  It was filthy (like everything else in the house) and literally had boogies wiped across the walls.  Ty chose a sky blue and black theme and it turned out gorgeous!  He loves his new room!!!

The living room dining room combo was a work of heart.  If you notice, it was painted in a semi-gloss highlighting all of the imperfections in the plaster wall.  The fixtures were outdated years ago and the floors hadn't been done since 1953!  We chose a flat color that we felt was 'us' and sanded and refinished the floors throughout!  We updated the fixtures, installed a ceiling fan in the living room and put up window coverings!

Our work in the living room carried over into our dining room where we installed updated fixtures and window coverings...

The bathroom was a nightmare.  The original tub had been coated a few years ago but was chipping off.  We revamped the entire bathroom and love the way it turned out :)

One of my favorites... The side yard baffled us until just a couple of weeks ago.  We weren't sure what we wanted to do with it, but love the way it finally turned out!!!   We can't wait until next week when we plant our veggie garden with the kids!!

Our bedroom was another biggie... It was so dirty that we had to wear masks when doing the work.  We stripped out the carpet, removed the popcorn ceiling and painted.  We have yet to put the crown molding up, but it's on Steve and Ken's honey do list :)  We absolutely love our bedroom!!!

This could well be the grossest part of the house when we moved in.  The top of this cabinet was used as a giant kiddie litter box by the prior home owners.  It was the most disgusting think I've ever seen!  We scrubbed it, primered it, painted it and made it into a planter!  We love it!

Again, the before and after is crazy!  Ken and Steve built the new gate and we landscaped the entire thing.

Needless to say, Ken has blocked the DIY channel from all of our TV's in the house (hahaha) but we couldn't be more pleased with the way everything has turned out!!!

Man are we tired!!!

Ken, Kierstyn and Mikayla's Birthday Fun...

 Sunday we celebrated Ken's (10.15), Kierstyn's (10.17) and Mikayla's (10.25) birthdays at the
Wild Animal Park... We surprised the girls with flight line tickets and they couldn't wait to get going!!!

 Happy Birthday Guys!!!

Me and my birthday boy :)

The boys crawled into the birds nest...

Needless to say they freaked out a little bit when Ken plugged the hole with his bum and threatened to freshen their limited air supply (if you know what I mean)....

 Terra, the deer whisperer!

Ken couldn't resist!  That is one cool deer :)

Nothing better than a Subway picnic on a beautiful San Diego day at the zoo!!!
Except for the bees of course who thought Ty was one of them in his bright yellow shirt :)

I could spend all day with the Lokeets!!!
We bought nectar and fed them...
So exciting!!!

"Please don't poo... Please don't poo..."

 Such beautiful girls...
We are so proud of them...

 I love this picture...

Getting all suited up to zip line!!!
We were sooooooooooooo excited!

The first zip line was a practice line...
It was shorter and slower, but gave us an idea of how to land safely...

On the caravan to the big zip line...

Walking out on the flight line apparatus was extremely nerve wracking...
We were up high enough that we had to be tethered in case of a fall!

All of our legs went to jello and the girls turned white as a ghosts
(including myself I'm sure)!!

Mikayla was strapped in first, then Kierstyn and then me!!!

This was our view as we zip lined over the "African Sahara"!!!
AMAZING!!!

Ken was on the other end with the kids waiting on us!!!

The adrenalin was definitely high upon landing!!!
Look at Kierstyn in the middle!!!

We walked around for the rest of the day!
The boys looked for "wild life" with a magnifying glass!!!

There were three new baby elephants born this year!!!!

 Me and my hunny :)

We were seeing if we could jump as long as some of the animals at the park...
Ken definitely made a worthy effort!!!
Great picture Kierstyn!!!!

 So funny!!!

We were ready to head home by the end of the day!!!

We had made a lasagna that morning and it was waiting for us at home!!!
We were all starving!!!

We gave Ken his birthday surprise and had some yummy cake!!!

By the time we added Mikayla's 14 candles, that cake was a flaming!!!

Check out the video of the day's festivities!!!
